Brochure Integrity in Practice - Internal Investigation

To help organisations set up and conduct good internal investigations, the Dutch Whistleblowers Authority publishes the amended Internal Reporting Guide. This version has been adapted to the Dutch Whistleblowers Protection Act (Wbk) and can be used for investigations into all reports of integrity violations, including suspicions of social abuses (whistleblowing reports).

The brochure describes what is needed to organise an internal investigation and how the organisation can prepare for that investigation. Attention is paid to the assessment of a report, the investigation itself and its completion. Finally, attention is paid to any steps that may follow, such as informing the reporter and those involved, employment law or preventive measures, aftercare and handling of data.

The aspect of communication is also a topic of interest. Not only with the reporter, but with everyone involved in the investigation, other employees and any stakeholders of the organisation. The brochure contains obligations under the Working Conditions Act and Wbk, as well as practical tips.
